Public Speech Coverage

RMIT ABC Fact Check currently have expansion plans towards Asian countries, according to Sushi Das, RMIT ABC Fact Check’s Chief of Staff.

Ms Das delivered a public speech to first year journalism students at RMIT University's City Campus yesterday.

RMIT ABC Fact Check won the Skelton Prize and received a cheque from Mr. Russell Skelton himself.

According to Ms Das, RMIT ABC Fact Check has "never got a verdict wrong" and judges deemed them to "have done the best work”.

“We employ the largest group of journalists.” she said.

She also said RMIT ABC Fact Check is the “oldest fact checking unit”.

Fact checking is important because of technology easing connection, shift of advertising to the internet and the rise of spin doctors, Ms Das said.

“Facts are now submerged in the mud of fake news."

RMIT ABC Fact Check determines accuracy of politicians’ claims in public debates, public speeches and more.

RMIT ABC Fact Check aims to be available to all audiences by operating across multiple platforms.

Audience: RMIT Students

Publication: The City Journal

Potential Contacts:

  • Mr. Russell Skelton

  • Contenders for the 2018 Skelton Prize (who did not win).
