JOURNAL OF VICTORIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION ARTICLE SUGGESTS DANGERS OF HOT DOGS
An article discussing hot dogs as choking hazards was released at the Journal of the Victorian Medical Association today.
The article said someone in Victoria chokes to death on hot dogs every five days.
“If you were trying to design something that would be perfect to block a child’s airway, it would be a bite-size piece of hot dogs,” a researcher said.
He said children under four should never be allowed to eat a whole hot dog. Hot dogs should never be cut crosswise.
Other risky foods for kids up to 9 years old include: lollies, nuts, grapes, apple, carrots and popcorn.
