Greens Candidate Adam Bandt held the seat of Melbourne for a fourth term.
He received the most first preferences with almost 50 percent votes and a 4.5 percent swing after yesterday's Federal Election.
He won against Liberal Candidate Lauren Sherson in the two candidate preferred vote with about 70 percent votes and three percent swing.
Mr Bandt's campaigns and policies involve a "fairer and cleaner economy" and “building a caring society”.
“The number one local priority is getting action on the flammable cladding crisis,” he said.
"I want to support the efforts of people across the community to build our sustainability and move Melbourne to 100% renewables,” he said.
Mr Bandt also said he will introduce a climate emergency declaration for a vote.
Independent Candidate Dave Blake said the election "wasn’t really a proper contest because of the resignation of the ALP Candidate".
Mr Blake received about 1.5 percent of the total votes, placing him at sixth place.
“I hope we have a government that can actually pay attention to the basics that have to do with jobs and the economy,” he said.
About 75 percent of the total votes have been calculated by the Australian Electoral Commission, with all polling places returned.
